The Mahogany Resonator-Cover Image

Very early in my guitar building days I was able to connect with Rich while he was on tour with the Crowes. I decided to try a resonator style guitar for him which features a single cutaway mahogany body with full upper fret access. The mahogany is completely hallowed out with the exception of the disc that holds the resonator cone in place. The body is then capped off in eastern hard maple, the neck is one piece mahogany with an ebony head plate and the fretboard is rosewood inlayed with mother of pearl stars and moons.

The electric sound is provided by a vintage Danelectro Lipstick pickup mounted directly to the body with one volume and one tone knob.

This was used on the “By Your Side” summer tour, 1999.

Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes playing the Mondell Unitone Esquire @ The Stone Pony Summer Stage This Guitar is comprised of an Ash Body with Maple Neck finished in a relic’d motif. The neck and body are mated together with the patented Mondell Unitone System.

This was used on the “Shake Your Money Maker” summer tour, 2022.
